The Orange Man Project

Day 5

What Happened

Well, let's start off with what didn't happen. I didn't go to San Antonio like I had planned. A combination of being super tired, not having any clean clothes, and feeling like I had managed to find a way to invent male morning sickness. I had an encounter in the bathroom at 4:00 am that I would rather not repeat again, although I was so tired I couldn't even tell you exactly what happened. Suffice it to say, it was unpleasant. I hope to be able to make it down to San Antonio on Wednesday. I figure that since it's my day off, if I'm going to be forced by the carrots to get up early anyway, I might as well be productive. I got my 'regular' six hours of sleep again.

I noticed some orangeness on the shower curtain the other day and I wondered if perhaps my carotene was rubbing off on it. Whatever it was, a little bit of Tilex cleaned it right up. I realize that Tilex is probably just bleach in a spray bottle, but it work so well. I once tried to dye my entire body green (it didn't work, only my hands turned green) but my entire tub was turned green in the process. Spraying Tilex on it fixed everything. I thought for sure my deposit was going out the window with that tub.

I also cleaned my room, partially. I have been collecting mail in it for about a year now. I am one of those people that likes to shred credit card offers and the like, but I don't own a shredder. In the past, this has meant costly time sitting there tearing things by hand, something that I was not eager to do again. So I went to Walmart and bought the Aurora AS1015CD. (Here is a similar British model) Not only can this baby shred 10 pieces of paper at once with cross cutting, but it can shred credit cards and CDs. Yes, I did shred a perfectly good blank CD just to test it out, and I'm happy about it. It was that good. I shredded about 8 cards, and a bajillion credit card offers in unopened envelopes. The only time it stalled was when shredding a particularly thick and large American Express envelope while the bin was full. It looks like having a full bin interferes with the shredding. Not a big deal for me as I was filling a trash bag anyway.

Is spent about a solid hour and a half just shredding. That is insane. I had soooooo many papers around. Honestly I'm confused because after all of the cleaning, my room actually looks worse than it did when I began. I'm stumped, unless it is all of the shreddings everywhere. On the plus side, I found lots of cools stuff, including about $65 in cash and $260 in un-deposited checks. I think I'll deposit those, and just hope that whoever it is getting money from actually has money in their accounts. I mean, any responsible person checks to see which checks are outstanding, right? Or maybe I should just mention something about it. Yeah...

I think my camera might be dying. Sometimes it doesn't respond at all and I have to turn it off and on a few times. I don't want to spend the money on a new camera, but I do want a new camera, so I am not sure how I feel about this. One of the big drawbacks to my camera (aside from being only 1.2MP) is that there is a gap in how close you can take a picture. In normal range you have to be at least a meter away for it to not be blurry. On the close setting, you can't be more than 0.5 meters away without it getting blurry. And the close setting zooms in really far. So if you want to take a picture of something like a shredded CD, you can't get just the CD without it being blurry. I'm sure this is part of Kodak's master plan to sell additional cameras that can only take pictures between 0.5 and 1.0 meters. A pox upon them!

Oh, I tried to meet up with some people to see a movie tonight and ended up going to the wrong theater. I was going to be uber later no matter what I did, so I just came home. I blame the carrots effect on my mind, mainly loosing it.

Ugh, almost forgot something important. An old roommate of mine called me today to say that he actually saw some men competing in a real game of ferret legging. I don't know whether to be jealous or holding my crotch in imagined pain. We owe the Scottish everywhere a debt of gratitude for inventing ferret legging and curling, where would we be without you?

Eating Schedule

Started off the eating day around 10:00 am with 3 nice raw carrots. An hour or so later I had 3 more nice raw carrots sliced up with dipping oil poured over them. Tasty, and yet I still had that nauseous feeling after eating them. I may investigate this at a later time when I do not already feel a little sick. That was pretty much it until around 5:00 pm when I cut around 6 carrots in half and steaming them. To try and flavor them I poured in some of the pepper olive oil and some garlic salt. I'm afraid that neither really did much. But the carrots were tasty none the less. I ate maybe half of them.

The white stuff on there is the garlic salt. Well, for garlic salt it isn't very salty so it mainly ended up as mush on the carrots. Not bad, but not something I will repeat. Also, the carrots get really wrinkly, much like my hands when I am trying to do dishes. Aside from pots and pans, I only own disposable dishes/utensils. As for the environment, I am convinced that the savings in water and energy by not washing the dishes makes up for whatever the negative effects are. My roommate isn't convinced yet, but he wavers.

How I Felt

This morning wasn't nearly as bad as last night, but it also wasn't like spending the day at a delicious barbeque. I was feeling pretty energyless most of the day again, but towards the end of the day I have felt better. Now I almost feel fine. Almost. In fact, I can say that I feel better this evening than at any point from Monday on. Maybe things are turning up?

Weight Measurement

I got my pill, and am wearing silky underwear (due to my lack of laundry, otherwise I'm a cotton man) and the total is 237.4 lbs. This silky fabric should weigh a bit less so it may be skewing the results a little. Regardless, I know for experience that boiled carrots pass through the system much more slowly than raw carrots, so this may help food stay in the intestines a little longer and help to level out what appears to be dangerously fast weight loss. Or maybe it will offer the perfect culturing environment for the Ebola virus to take hold within me, only time will tell. Tune in next week for more Orange Man!
